Honorary Alumni Nominations Information



The conferral of the status of Honorary Alumnus by the Alumni Association is intended to recognize individuals who have achieved a distinguished record of service, support, advocacy and commitment on behalf of the College of William and Mary and/or its schools, departments, units, organizations and boards.

 

To be nominated as an Honorary Alumnus an individual must have at least one letter of nomination.The letter(s) must detail the length, scope and unusual nature of involvement or support.It must be submitted by a nominator other than the individual to be considered.

Nominations may be initiated by any individual, group, organization, board, College unit, school or departments.

Written letters of nomination should be addressed to Honorary Alumni Award, c/o Executive Director, William & Mary Alumni Association, P.O. Box 2100, Williamsburg, VA 23187-2100. Nominations may also be completed online using the form below. Entries must be complete and detailed to warrant evaluation. Please submit nominations no later than January 15th each year.

It is important that letters of nomination demonstrate the conspicuousness and consistency of
involvement. It should be readily apparent that the individual being nominated has demonstrated loyalty and affection for William and Mary through sustained active participation, generosity of leadership and financial assistance or prominent advocacy and counsel.
